Tom Cruise will receive an honorary oscar award

Tom Cruise will be awarded an honorary Oscar at the this years Governors Award Ceremony in November. Janet Yang who is the president of the Oscars stated “Four legendary individuals whose extraordinary careers and commitments to our film-making community continue to leave a lasting impact”, Cruise will be joined by Dolly Parton, Debbie Allen and Wynn Thomas in receiving the honorary awards.

Tom Cruise has never won an Oscar before but has been previously nominated four different times, with the nominations being for his performances in ‘Rain man’, ‘Magnolia’, ‘Born on the Fourth of July’ and best picture nominee for ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ in which he was a producer and would have been apart of the winnings.

The Definition of the honorary Oscar is as follows, “To honour extraordinary distinctions in lifetime achievement, exceptional contributions to the state of motion picture arts and sciences in any discipline, or for outstanding services to the academy’. Tom Cruise is a true hero and deserves this award fully.
