A longer wait for Uk audiences to watch Celine Song’s ‘Materialists’ - promising domestic opening
Celine Song’s new film ‘Materialists’ has released in America over the weekend and has now been seen as the 3rd most successful opening weekend for an A24 movie, earning $12 million. A24 spent $20 Million on the Romance feature and after this strong opening they will be looking to a promising continuation of success as people can’t wait to see hear throbs ‘Chris Evans’ and ‘Pedro Pascal’ fight for the fantastic ‘Dakota Johnson’. Materialists is the next film in Celine Song’s catalogue with her last screenplay being the beautiful ‘Past Lives’ which seen major success and has been rated extremely highly by critics.
However, The UK audiences will have to wait a little while to see the new A24 romance as it will release across the UK audiences August 15th which has caused discourse online as many UK film lovers has spoken out about this. Social Media content creator Josiah Cooper went to X and replied to a post about Materialists being released in the US, and quoted saying “Unless you’re in the UK, we have 2 more months 👍🏻”. This is in contrast as the US had their release on Friday June 13th and has seen a good reception by critics and audiences that have gone to watch the anticipated movie.
