28 Years Later

28 Years Later is an absolute masterpiece. Ive been sat here for a while after watching it, in awe of what I have seen, I was thinking about negatives and flaws, but I honestly have nothing bad to say about it at all.

First of all, Danny Boyle’s style is insane and you can really see that his unique filmography in this, the film looks absolutely incredible, the set pieces are super unique and every scene looks like its in a derelict world, really believe and beautiful in a haunting fashion, the bone temple, the town and the whole mainland just was captured so perfectly and felt so interconnected. The editing and visuals in pure Danny Boyle style, was frightening and super stylistic the coolest way, when it comes to the kills where its in slowmo and the camera pans, or even scenes where the army men are walking through the tunnel, the jump-scares really worked well, yet there wasn’t many in the film, as the world building and natural frightening moments were terrifying in itself. The shots were all beautifully filmed, I really notice the scenes with Jodie Comer in the flowers while infected chase them and the scenes where Spike and his dad have to run away from the Alpha, of course I could name nearly every scene in this film as beautifully shot, but they are a few. The practical designs were insane too, the infected looked terrifying and gruesome, super realistic look as they have no clothes and look like one with nature. There we really suspenseful moments in this film, they make you really sit on the edge of your seat and you can’t help but feel nervous about everyones fate.

The story in this was way deeper than what I could have ever of expected, I really thought it would be a natural zombie apocalypse film where they have to save spike from danger, but it was a coming of age story and a story about family and love, doing anything you can for the person you love the most. The relationship between Spike and Isla was really lovely and they really captured the relationship well, with Spike doing anything to save his mother. They also capture the relationship with the Father and Son perfectly too, Jamie is the dad that wants his son to be tough, and he makes out to the public that he is a tough man, and Jamie wants the credit for his sons success, which pushes away Spike and leads to him taking the initiative to save his mother, really beautiful work. I was a really big fan of Ralph Fiennes character too, he was a caring soul who has been misrepresented in the town for his methods, but he really is respectful and has some great morals. I also think that the exploration of the infected and how much they have developed over the years is really interesting, giving birth, becoming Alphas and being a dominant force, its super gripping.

Honestly I have no flaws and couldn’t take my eyes off the screen at all, I was flawed by everything about it, cinematography, storyline, music, action, character development, acting, directing, EVERYTHING

Final Review: 5/5 or 10/10
