Lilo and Stitch earns eight times more than budget in the box office
Lilo and Stitch has blown the box office out of the water and swam across all the oceans to earn a huge $807.6 Million across the global worldwide box office according to Deadline. Lilo and Stitch Live Action is a remake from the original animated classic and was always going to draw in fans of the older film and bring in families from all over the globe due to it’s connections with ‘ohana’ and will tug on all the families heart strings with a tight and close bond between the characters and the love for the fluffy alien stitch. Lilo and Stitch cost Disney $100 Million to make and has now surpassed the budget by eight times the original amount earning just over $800 Million.
So far, Lilo and Stitch scored the highest opening box office success so far in 2025 and since its release its remained the number one domestically and globally for three consecutive weekends. It’s performed hat well that it’s the second highest earning film all over the globe just behind ‘A Minecraft Movie’
In the past their has been heavy criticism towards the new Disney Live Action remakes as films such as ‘Snow White’, ‘Lion King: Mufasa' and ‘The Little Mermaid’ all did ok at the box office but were all hated critically for always swaying away from what made the original films so special and changes major aspects of the originals too. Lilo and Stitch has many differences from the original but people were much higher on this than previous attempts from Disney which could have been the reason why this has been such a huge success by Bob Iger’s team.
